Post-traumatic stress disorder is a condition that some people, who have been exposed to a frightening, shocking, or extremely dangerous event, can develop.1  These individuals may experience symptoms of nightmares, flashbacks of the event, and severe anxiety that seems to worsen over time and begins to interfere with their ability to function on a day-to-day basis. Other common symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder include:
